How Many Jobs Were Created in 2015? (Final Update)


Total Jobs Created/Lost In 2015:

  • 2,744,000 payroll jobs were ADDED in 2015 in seasonally adjusted numbers.
  • That's an additional 229,000 jobs per month in 2015.
  • 2,651,000 private payroll sector jobs were ADDED in seasonally adjusted numbers.
  • That's an additional 221,000 private jobs per month in 2015.
  • 93,000 government sector (federal, state, and local) jobs were ADDED in seasonally adjusted numbers in 2015. 
  • That's an addition of 8,000 government jobs per month in 2015.
  • 2,490,000 MORE people were employed during 2015.  ("Employed" numbers include people who are self-employed and people working in agriculture.  This number is reported by workers; the "jobs" numbers are reported by employers. )
  • That's an additional 208,000 people employed each month in 2015.
  • 2,604,000 MORE people were working full-time in 2015.
  • 113,000 FEWER people were working part-time in 2015.
  • These are NET numbers, meaning they are the numbers of jobs ADDED after all jobs LOST are subtracted.
