How many TOTAL jobs have been lost or gained since Obama was inaugurated?
- 4,303,000 jobs (in seasonally adjusted numbers) were LOST from the time Obama took office until the "trough" of the recession in early 2010. That's a decrease of 3.2%.
- 1,886,000 jobs (in seasonally adjusted numbers) were CREATED from the "trough" of the recession until now, August, 2011. That's an increase of 1.5%.
- In total, 2,417,000 jobs (in seasonally adjusted numbers) were LOST from the time Obama took office until now, August 2011. That's a decrease of 1.8%.
- We have experienced 11 months WITHOUT job losses since September 2010. We have added 821,000 jobs during those 11 months.
How many PRIVATE sector jobs have been lost or gained since Obama was elected?
- 4,189,000 private-sector jobs (in seasonally adjusted numbers) were LOST from the time Obama took office until the "trough" of the recession in early 2010. That's a decrease of 3.8%.
- 2,398,000 private-sector jobs (in seasonally adjusted numbers) were GAINED OR CREATED from the "trough" of the recession until now, August, 2011. That's an increase of 2.3%.
- In total,1,791,000 private sector jobs (in seasonally adjusted numbers) were LOST from the time Obama took office until now, August 2011. That's a net decrease of 1.6%.
- We have experienced 19 months of positive private-sector jobs GROWTH from February 2010 until August 2011.
How many GOVERNMENT jobs have been lost or gained since Obama was elected?
- 114,000 government jobs (in seasonally adjusted numbers) were LOST from the time Obama took office until the "trough" of the recession in early 2010. That's a decrease of .5% (half of a percent).
- 512,000 government jobs (in seasonally adjusted numbers) were LOST from the "trough" of the recession until now, August, 2011. That's a decrease of 2.3%.
- In total, 626,000 government jobs (in seasonally adjusted numbers) were LOST from the time Obama took office until now, August 2011. That's a decrease of 2.8%.
- We have experienced 15 months of decreases in the number of government jobs starting in June 2010, when 2010 Census workers began to be laid off.
