Men losing more jobs in the Recession?

Are men still losing more jobs in this Recession?

Strange Days for the Man of the House:

In the above article recently published in Huffington Post, psychologist Dr. Peggy Drexler talks about the demographics of the current recession and its effect on family dynamics and gender relationships.

Her article is based on the fact that men lost over 70% of the total jobs lost during this Great Recession.  She believes that such a shift in the demographics of the work force might indicate a change in the way men and women relate to each other.

She writes in part:
And so, the recession drags on. Nobody feels it more oppressively and relentlessly than the men who have been cast out of all those industries they called their own.

Number of Jobs Created by Obama: 524,000

The following report is as of June 2011.

For all current jobs reports, please click HERE!

We entered positive jobs territory in May 2011 and continued in positive jobs territory in June 2011.

Despite the dismay and disappointment over the jobs report, the total number of jobs continued to go up in June 2011.  We have not lost any jobs net in 2011.  Stay tuned for further analysis.

In "raw" unadjusted numbers; employers are reporting 524,000 more jobs now in June 2011 than they were reporting in January 2009, when Obama was inaugurated.  Read below.  In other words, in seasonally-unadjusted numbers of jobs, there are 524,000 more jobs actually reported by employers now than when Obama was inaugurated.

How many jobs have been created by Obama since the "trough" of the recession in late 2009/early 2010 to now, June 2011?
  • In seasonally adjusted numbers, 1,771,000 jobs have been created since the "trough" of the recession in January 2010.
  • In raw unadjusted numbers, 4,770,000 jobs have been created since the "trough" of the recession in January 2010.

How many jobs have been created by Obama since he took office in January 2009?
  • In numbers adjusted for seasonal variations, we are still in negative territory since Obama took office.  In seasonally adjusted numbers, there are 2,532,000 fewer jobs than when Obama was inaugurated in January 2009.
  • But:  In "raw" unadjusted numbers, in terms of the real number of jobs offered by employers to real people, there are now more jobs than when Obama took office in January 2009.  There are now 524,000 more jobs in "raw" unadjusted numbers than when Obama took office in January 2009.
  • In real unadjusted numbers, there are 953,000 MORE private-sector jobs than when Obama was inaugurated.
  • In real unadjusted numbers, there are  429,000 FEWER government jobs at all levels (federal, state, and local).
